Cover forwarded to Sydney with violet "Forwarded By Rabone Bros., Sydney N.S.W." oval handstamp, franked with N.S.W. 1871, 8d yellow + 1d dull red tied by "Sydney, N.S.W., Ju 4, 80" duplex postmarks, receiving backstamp, Very Fine, a rare forwarding usage which there is little doubt it originated in Samoa. SG No. N.S.W. 207+218 Estimate $300 - 400.
This cover is from the same correspondence as the Samoa 1sh Express combination cover to Germany (See Lot #), both with the identical N.S.W. franking and mailed only about three months apart.
