Mexico, (Saltillo) Leona Vicario. Red boxed date stamp (Yag-Bash ST4) on 1836 folded letter to Mexico City (file fold through postmark), also as second strike on 1838 official certified cover front with matching "Franco" boxed handstamp, Very Fine.Estimate $150 - 200.
Saltillo in 1827 was declared "A city with the name Leona Vicario" after the ardent revoluntary. In 1835-36 they got around to using the postmark "Leona Vicario". The name change was not very popular and by 1838 the name of Saltillo was resumed.
