Wells, Fargo & Co./Silver Park/Jun 22. Blue oval handstamp on 6¢ pink legal size entire with company frank to San Francisco, frank printed over obsolete "Pacific Union Express Co." frank, docketing on reverse indicates "1870" usage, cover is opened on all four sides and is held together at bottom by ½ inch of unsevered section, cover with wear & aging, Fine. Estimate $150 - 200.
Silver Park was a short-lived mining town located in Nevada's Nye County. Wells Fargo briefly maintained an office there in 1870-1871 with H. M. Barnes as agent.
The Wells, Fargo & Co. handstamp of Silver Park is unique, and this cover last sold in Siegel's 375th Sale in May of 1970.
