Postal Card, 1886, 1¢ black on salmon pink. Pristine example of this very rare card, virtually Extremely Fine. UPSS No. S8 see note. Scott No. UX9d $2,000.
According to UPSS catalog,"Copies of this card printed on Salmon pink paper are occasionally found, and are usually identified as trial-color proofs. This color paper, however, was used for a short time as a means of counting, one sheet being inserted after each 500 of the regular stock. Failure to remove some of these sheets resulted in their being imprinted and distributed in the usual way".
