Collection of 100's of covers, neatly displayed and annotated on exhibition pages, mostly originating in Great Britain, almost all with black edging signifying the sender was in mourning; the collector was especially interested in the British Royal Family, and there are various color portraits of Queen Victoria and other royals dispersed throughout; also included are mourning cards for Queen Victoria and King Edward VII; of the several 100 covers the first being 1840 Penny Black 4-margin example, many variations on the mourning cover theme throughout, all with detailed explanations; destinations include India, many to the U.S.A., Canada, Paris, Versailles, Brussels, Nova Scotia, etc; some interesting frankings, rates and other postal markings; also included is Mourning Covers: The Cultural and Postal History of Letters Edged in Black by E.A.
