NGL Line Steamship "Mosel", New York March 6th - Southampton March 17th 1875. Envelope posted at Middlesburgh, Massachusetts 5th March with "NEW YORK PAID ALL / MAR / 6" transit and addressed to Constantinople, Turkey. Prepaid the 11 cent North German Union Closed Mail rate of August 1872 using 1873, 1¢ ultramarine + 10¢ brown. Reverse bears Turkish exchange office stamp for March 29th. The "Wfr." handstamp indicates that the letter was taken off at Southampton and routed through Aachen. Atlantic Transit of 11 days; 10¢ with s.e. at left and 1¢ with some blunt perfs from cover overlap at right, F.-V.F. Scott No. 156+161 Estimate $150 - 200.
