NGL Steamships "Koenig Wilhelm I" Final Voyage. Envelope posted at New York 12th November 1873, franked with 1873, 3¢ green, two singles prepaying the 6 cents via Bremen rate of October 1871. Addressed to Pofsneck, Thuringia bearing Bremen transfer stamp of 30th November and Pofsneck arrival stamp of 1st December on reverse; cover with a couple pin holes and edge wear at top left, otherwise Very Fine.

The Koenig Wilhelm I of 2,250 tons was built in 1873 for NGL with her maiden voyage from Bremen on 25th June 1873. On her 2nd return crossing she was stranded on the Dutch coast at Nieuwediep on the 26th November 1873. 24 bags were taken off and transmitted to Bremen arriving there 30th November. Winter states that this is the only cover he has seen from the voyage.
