HAPAG Line Steamship "Teutonia", New York June 9th - Southampton June 22nd 1868. Envelope posted at New York on 9th June addressed to Chatenay 7 miles south of Paris. Carried by the Teutonia and transferred in closed bag via Southampton to Calais where the exchange office stamp for 23rd June 1868 was applied. Prepaid the 15 cent rate for up to ¼ ounce of April 1857 with a 1866, 15¢ black tied by circle of wedges and red N.Y. exchange postmarks. Reverse bears the Antoni arrival stamp of June 23rd being the office on the Orleans road for Chatenay, Atlantic Transit 13 days; few tiny cover tears at top, Very Fine.
