Feldman Collection of Atlantic Mails - Other Lines & Important Covers 1866-1869

French Line "Péreire". Two covers carried by the "Péreire", both franked with 1861-66, 15¢ Lincoln;

First is part entire franked with pair (#77, light toning around) posted at New Orleans 14th March 1868 and prepaid to Havre, France the double weight for over ¼ ounce of 30 cents by French packet. The Péreire left New York on the 21st March arriving at Havre on the 1st April. Redirected to Rebeauville, Haut Rhine via Paris and Strasbourg (backstamps of 2nd April arriving Rebeauville 3rd April).

Second is envelope single franked (#98, light crease) and letter sheet dated "28th October 1868 Home" and posted at Philadelphia the following day. Prepaid the 15 cent rate for under ¼ ounce by French packet. Put onto the Péreire at New York on 30th October and landed at Havre on 9th November. Addressed to Drexel Harjes & Co. in Paris and forwarded under separate cover to Milan., F.-V.F.; 15¢ single on cover with 2003 P.F. certificate.
