Havre Line Steamship "Nashville" Maiden Voyage, New York January 16th - Southampton February 28th 1854. Entire dated "New York 10th January 1854" addressed to Balingen in Württemberg endorsed "per Havre". departure stamp "23 N. YORK AM PKT / JAN / 14" but held until the 16th for the Nashville sailing. Reverse bears the "AACHEN / 3 2" exchange office stamp. No rate via France was set at this date but the US post office required a 23 Cent credit from France. Atlantic Transit of 12 days to Havre, Very Fine, The Nashville undertook only two trips under contract to the Havre Line. Estimate $150 - 200.
