Havre Line?s "Nashville" Second & Final Voyage. Two covers;
Final Outbound Voyage, New York March 14th - Havre March 28th 1854, Entire posted at New Philadelphia, Ohio on March 1st addressed to Herrenberg, Konigs Württemberg, Germany endorsed "New York - Havre". Prepaid 20 cents (PAID / 20) annotated by the New Philadelphia office as being 14 + 6 cents. The rate to Württemberg via Bremen was 20 cents and as no treaty rate existed via France this seems to have been chosen. "NEW YORK AM PACKET / MAR / 14" applied and "OUTRE MER LE HAVRE / 28 / MAR" on landing at Havre. Reverse bears the Herrenberg arrival stamp of March 31st. Atlantic Transit of 14 days to Havre New York & Havre Steam Navigation Company.

Final Return Voyage, Havre April 12th - New York April 28th 1854, Entire dated "Paris 11th April 1854" and headed "Nashville 12th" and addressed to Philadelphia endorsed "p S.S. Nashville ara Havre April 12" and prepaid 60 Decimes by France 1853, 10c bister + 25c blue, pair (10¢ with nick and crease). On arrival at New York the rarer "20 N. YORK AM PKT / APR 28" (Winter 9) was applied Atlantic Transit 16 days from Havre, Very Fine.

In 1854 the Havre Line chartered the "Nashville" from Spofford, Tileston & Co. of New York for two round trips. She replaced the Humboldt which was wrecked near Halifax in late November 1853.
