Ocean Line Steamship "Hermann", New York August 20th - Bremen September 6th 1850. Entire dated "Syracuse 15 Sept. 1850" addressed to Vaihingen an der Enz, Württemberg, Germany. The Syracuse office applied a "29" cent charge stamp being 5 cents inland plus 24 cents treaty rate to Württemberg via Bremen of March 1848. The Bremen exchange office applied the rate "12¼" Groschen rate stamp (Van der Linden 3143) for the 29 cent charge and the "AMERICA / UBER BREMEN" (Van der Linden 115). Atlantic Transit of 17 days to Bremen, Very Fine. Estimate $300 - 400.
