Feldman Collection of Atlantic Mails - Cunard and the Retaliatory Rate

Cunard Steamship "Africa". Entire dated "Boston March 28th 1865" addressed to Bombay, India, franked with 1861, 3¢ rose + 30¢ orange tied by grid cancel, reverse bearing the "BOSTON BR. PKT. PAID / MAR / 29" and leaving on the Africa that day. Arrived Queenstown 9th April with London transit of the following day. Prepaid the treaty rate to India via Southampton of 33 cents arriving Bombay on 11th May with arrival backstamp on reverse. The Boston "28" was applied for credit to Britain and the manuscript "1" at London for colonial credit to India for delivery in Bombay, Very Fine.
