"Per Steamer PERSIA" Two Part Straight Line Handstamp Applied by Sender on Folded Letter from New York to France, 1859. While it was quite customary for senders to specify which ship they wanted to carry their letters, this was nearly always done by manuscript endorsement, rather than handstamp. The sender in this case was William Schall and Co., and we know of only one other firm that used a two-part handstamp in this manner, Very Fine.Estimate $750 - 1,000.
