Cunard Line Steamship "Africa", New York April 5th - Liverpool April 18th 1854. Prices current posted at New Orleans March 27th 1854 and receiving that offices "PAID / 50", the rate that would have covered a bundle of 10 sent at the 5 cents printed matter rate by British open mail to France. Addressed to Paris reverse bears London transit of April 18th. At the Calais exchange office the bundle was initially rated "8" Decimes, this was then uprated to "20" and finally at Paris to "116". Atlantic Transit of 13 days; small cover tear at top left, F.-V.F. Estimate $100 - 150.
