Havana to Germany via Isle of Wight Consular Forwarder and Hamburg Post Office for America, 1832. Letter (in German) datelined Havana August 10 1832, landed at Cowes, Isle of Wight, where the U.S. Consul, Robert R. Hunter applied his forwarder's cachet and sent the letter as a ship letter to Hamburg, where the scarce "POST OFFICE for AMERICA / HAMBURG" with castle was struck, along with the October 13 arrival date .The total charge upon delivery was 12½ silbergroschen, being 2½ silbergroschen ship letter charge and 10sgr for the 500 kilometers to Herrnhut, now on the borders of both Poland and the Czech Republic, Extremely Fine.
