Havana - Hamburg - New York - Portsmouth of 1834. Entire dated "Havana 28 July 1834" mistakenly put on a vessel to Hamburg. Quarantined at Cuxhaven explained by letters content stating "yellow fever or some other sickness nearly as bad" causing death or crewmen. Received the "CUXHAVENER QUARANTAINE SIEGE / DR A.C.T. MEIER" cachet. Landed at Hamburg 4th October to be sent on to New York arriving 13th December 1834. Charged 20? Cents on delivery. Atlantic transit of 68 days., Very Fine and choice. Estimate $1,000 - 1,500.
