Folded letter datelined Havana June 22. 1831 and carried to Boston on the private ship Minos, quarantined at the lazaretto on Rainsford Island (variously known as Hospital Island, Pest House Island, and Quarantine Island) due to an outbreak of yellow fever in Havana. Released to the Post Office on 9 July. Red Boston "SHIP/6" in arc, Very Fine and choice. Estimate $750 - 1,000.
