Folded letter headed "Bridport Oct 8th 1789", sent in the cross post 135 miles to Falmouth, where the very rare (4 known) "FALM:O" (Tabeart type M2) was applied. Prepaid the over one ounce packet rate of 4 shillings; on arrival at New York charged "10 16" being 4 times 2dwt 16gr internal postage to Baltimore; file fold affecting Falmouth postmark, Very Fine. Estimate $750 - 1,000.
