France Paris Star Cancel Collection, 1852-1876. Extensive collection in several binders comprising well over 300 covers bearing Star cancels, numbered 1 to 39, in use in Paris during those years, each number corresponding to a particular post office; franked with "Empire" Emperor Napoleon imperf & perf issues and imperf & perf "Bordeaux" Ceres issues; wide range of combinations & destinations, with many foreign to European countries including England, and to U.S.A.; also one each to Hong Kong, Peru & Vera Cruz; some interesting markings and including many forwarder or advertising handstamps; note 1873 cover Boston to Paris franked with 10¢ brown Banknote, thence forwarded to Zurich with 30c Ceres added and postmarked at Paris, with other markings & handstamps; condition of collection is generally F-VF or better, with many XF. Estimate $2,500 - 3,500.
