Richard Yeadon Dwight (1837-1919) was a physician from Walterborough, S.C., but had a number of different assignments before finally serving as an assistant surgeon in 1864. At the time of this cover, he was a Lieutenant in Co. D, 3rd S.C. Heavy Artillery which was part of the Charleston defenses.
