Confederacy, 4th South Carolina Cavalry. Short hand written report datelined "Hd. Qrs. Green Pond, S.C., Nov. 22, '63" regarding Enemy Vessels and signals sent by "Sky Rockets", which reads The follwoing is a report made by Lt. Topper this moring - Several Steamers & a sailing vessel were seen in Coosaw yesterday - Last night between 8 & 9 o'clock three (3) Sky Rockets were sent United Nations in St. Helena Sound - in this directions (say Ashepoo), two were bright red & the other a pale red light. They went up in the following order - bright red - pale red - bright red, F.-V.F., a fascinating item. Estimate $200 - 300.
