1856, 5¢ red brown, vertical pair. Scissor cut between stamps partially severing pair, large margins to in at top, tied by grid cancels on cover to San Francisco, Cal. red "Westfield, Ms., Apr 19, 1858" cds and matching straight line "Paid" & "10" rate handstamps; cover reduced at right just into origin postmark, otherwise Very Fine, a very rare franking, with only a few pairs of 5¢ are known on cover to California, ex Kapiloff; with 1999 Holcombe certificate.
