Yuba River, March 1850 (Yuba), enclosure dateline on folded letter to McEwensville, Pa., with scarce "Sacramento, Cal., Mar 25" oval postmark (Williams SAC-2480) and red manuscript "40" rate, probably traveled east on the Steamer California, long 3-page letter seems to cover everything, selling wagon in St. Louis and traveling across the country on horseback arriving in Sacramento in early September 1849, touring mining areas upriver, mining trip to Trinity River, horses and provisions stolen on way back, building canoes and coming down the Sacramento and; "Provisions are very high in the mines, flour forty, pork fifty, other things in proportion.", minor cover soiling and fly-specking, otherwise Very Fine, a marvelous early California letter.
