Dobbin's Rancho, Sept 15th (Yuba), manuscript postmark (Williams YUB-500) with matching "Paid 3cts" rate on 1851 folded letter to San Francisco, letter states; "I am now engaged in a sluicing operation on Indiana Creek near Indiana Rancho two miles from Dobbins Rancho it is the Lower Co. only five miles from Frenchmans Bar. I am doing well with my sluice, we take out 20 to 200 (ounces) per day, five of us.", Very Fine, the earliest recorded postmark from this Post Office, ex B. Pearce. Estimate $2,000 - 3,000.
