Cottonwood, Cal., Sep 2, 57 (Shasta), early manuscript postmark (Williams SHA-1220) on 1855, 10¢ green entire to Gen. J. W. Denver (Denver county named after him when he was governor of Kansas Territory) in Washington, D.C., docketing indicates letter from P.B. Reading who came out west in 1843 with the Walker Party, with original enclosure, Extremely Fine, a wonderful piece of California history.
