Kit Carson - Colorado April 24/70, combination printed (as part of corner card) and manuscript postmark on cover to Trinidad, C.T. franked with manuscript cancelled 1869 3¢ ultramarine, some staining affecting cover & adhesive, Very Fine, illustrated in Jarrett's Colorado book. The town name formed part of the printed corner card of the Overland Transit Co., and the postmaster simply added the date in manuscript. This company operated as express and forwarding merchants to such places as Trinidad, Pueblo and Santa Fe. A stunning and important usage.
