Gold Dirt Col Ty, Nov 17 1861, artistic spencerian manuscript postmark ties 1861 3¢ rose pink (couple blunt perfs) on Union Flag patriotic cover, to which the sender has added the sentiment "Oh long may it wave", address (to Wisconsin) somewhat faded, slightly reduced at right, small part of flap torn away, Very Fine and rare, illustrated in Jarrett's Colorado book.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

Only manuscript postmarks are known from this important but short-lived stamping mill town. Gold Dirt was located in Gilpin County south and west of Rollinsville. In its early days, Gold Dirt produced two million dollars worth of gold.
