Fort Sedgwick Jun 12 1867, black cds on military cover to Massachusetts franked with 1861 3¢ rose with indistinct cancel, light pencil docketing at left indicates the sender was from "Co. B, 4th US Infantry", one flap replaced, Very Fine and scarce.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Fort Sedgwick was established to protect the inhabitants of old Julesburgh against Indian raids. A hardship post, many of its buildings were nothing more than sod huts.
