1851-52 Philadelphia, Pa. to Liverpool, England. With forwarding to Florence, Italy, cover with red octagonal "Phila 24c Paid" handstamp, red "Liverpool, Jan 14 1852 Paid" cds, blue "Philadelphia Dec 29 Pa." cds & red "19" credit to G.B. (3c inland postage and 16c sea for British packet) just beneath, Liverpool receiving postmark in the bottom left corner, paid the 24¢ per half ounce U.S. - G.B. treaty rate but on forwarding to Italy was discovered to weigh between ¼-½oz which subjected it to two rates under the French quarter ounce standard, Very Fine. Estimate $100 - 150.
