Lamping & Co. Express/Downieville. Oval handstamp on 1864-65 3¢ entire to San Francisco with ornate Company frank at left, used in conjuction with Wells, Fargo & Co. with their blue double oval handstamp of Marysville, flap tear which extends to front at top, Very Fine and scarce, Lamping's Express (successor to Langton) served the Downieville mining region and connected with Wells, Fargo & Co. at Marysville, a variety of franks were produced. Estimate $500 - 750.
