Confederacy, Point Lookout (Camp Hoffman). 1864 prisoner cover sent from Wm. H. Lumsden to his wife in Petersburg, Va., sent "Per Flag of Truce" and franked with U.S. 1861, 3c rose tied by target of Point Lookout, Va., in combination with 1863, 10c blue (ample to mostly large margins) tied by "Richmond, Va., Jul 30" cds, light "Prisoner's Letter, Examined" boxed handstamp (Williams type IIa) at right; cover missing backflap, otherwise Very Fine, an attractive and rare prisoner of war across the lines usage; with detailed biography & 1987 C.S.A. certificate.
