Bold straight two-line postmark (Williams SAC-2470) on cover to New York City, matching "Paid 40" rate handstamp alongside, internal cover hole in address panel and part of backflap expertly restored, otherwise Extremely Fine, a magnificent strike of this rare postmark. Estimate $2,000 - 3,000.
This Sacramento straight line postmark was only in use for 20 days between October 21 and November 10 of 1849.
