[New York] Miss Augusta Follett Correspondence, 1822-36. Collection of 13 letters sent to Miss Augusta Follett in Milford, New York, many carried outside the mails and from various cities around New York including Onondaga Hollow, Laurens, Burlington, two from Troy with red oval postmarks, Owego Village and privately carried within Milford, one such letter with an eloquent recitation regarding Ancient Greece and the history of modern Europe, also includes an important and historical letter from brother Burley Follett (who later became the mayor of Green Bay) datelined "Fort Howard, G.B., 13th Nov 1830" (Green Bay, Michigan Territory), letter was carried to Mackinac where it entered the mails with red "Mackinac, Nov 18" cds and matching "Ship" straight line cancel (this ship handstamp predates the earliest known in ASCC by six years) and manuscript "27" rate (25¢ for over 400 miles plus 2¢ ship), Very Fine, a wonderful and rare early correspondence.Estimate $2,000 - 3,000.
