Confederacy, (Columbia, S.C.) "Paid", blue circular handstamp on turned drop cover to Columbia, internally franked with 1863-64 10¢ blue (11, partially torn off) tied by blue Columbia S.C. cds and addressed to "Gen W.G. De Saussure", some light edge wear and staining and bit reduced at right, Fine and a rare usage, signed Kimbrough.
Estimate    $150 - 200.

Wilmot G. De Saussure (1822-86) was Lt. Col. of the 1st S.C. Militia Artillery in 1861, resigned to serve in S.C. legislature and later as a General in S.C. Militia.
