Confederacy, Anderson CH, S.C. May 30, two strikes of cds tie 1862 5¢ blue (4, light water staining around edges) on cover addressed to Capt. J.J. Norton, Richmond, Va., attractive printed corner card for "T. A. Evins, Drugs and Medicines" at top left, cover with light edge wear, Fine.
Estimate    $150 - 200.

J.J. Norton enlisted for three years, elected Captain and commissioned on 9/1/62. On 12/18/62 wounded at Fredericksburg losing an arm, later promoted to Major and later Lt. Col of Orr's Rifles. On 3/4/63 requesting resignation due to his wound and approved and resigned 3/25/63.
