D, McGowans Brigade Richmond Va.", turned and sent back to 5 Forks, franked with 1863-64 10¢ blue (defective), tied by partial Richmond Va cds, F.-V.F., a very rare cover (Stets & Teal Rarity 9).Estimate $300 - 400.
Hamilton enlisted in March, 1862 and served until Aug. 5, 1864, when entered Jackson hospital at Richmond for sickness. He was furloughed and did not return to duty.
