Steamer Virginia (Chesapeake Bay), printed illustrated corner card across to of cover detailing steamer route and schedule, address locally "Present", minor toning, Very Fine and attractive, a handsome cover and the only recorded example, Illustrated in Milgram.
Milgram No. 1419    Estimate $300 - 400.

Included of original enclosure datelined, "Carters Wharf, Jan. 17, 1861" detailing cargo,"There were only four sacks of salt, 10 empty barrels and one bundle of twine landed from Steamer Virginia. The articles were landed in the rain at night and that is the reason why the salt is damp."
