Steamer Boston 1855 Sep 14 (Coast of Maine), circular handstamp on cover to Deer Isle, Me., some cover faults, an Extremely Fine strike and the only recorded example, Illustrated in Milgram; with 2015 P.F. certificate.

The "Steamer Boston" was a 574 ton sidewheel packet built in 1850 in New York. She ran the coast of Maine between 1855-1863 and later used by the U.S. Navy. On May 25, 1864 she was sunk by Confederate gun fire on the South Edisto River with the lost of 7 or 8 lives.
