Steamboat Markings - Silver Moon to Storm (Milgram #1278-1324)

Weekly Packet St. Nicholas (Mississippi & Red Rivers), complete and well struck fancy multi-lined shield type handstamp on 1864-65 3¢ entire to New Orleans, part of flap missing & small sealed tear at top, also included is 1868 printed freight bill, Very Fine, a superb strike.
Milgram No. 1320    Estimate $150 - 200.

Built in 1864, this boat initially ran from Cincinnati to New Orleans until 1866, when it shifted to the New Orleans-Red River route. Captain John C. Dowty served as master during its operations on the Red River trade.
