P(otomack, Maryland): 1/, small manuscript postmark and rating on folded letter sheet addressed to John Reynells in Philadelphia, inside receipt docketing "From Berkett & Booth, Rec'd 4 mon 26th 1751 pr Post Via Maryland"; light toning, Very Fine.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

The postmark initial P is believed to be that of Potomack River (Cal Hahn had reported a 1732 advertisement for the Port Tobacco, Md. post office as "Potomack River"). Berkett & Booth was a merchant firm in Antigua.
