This stamp essay was manufactured by printers Lambert-Marioni as an example of their work and presented to the French Government for their approval. The vignette was engraved by Jules Piel based on an original engraving by Duplessis. The letters "STIF" at bottom stand for Services Techniques des Impressions Fiduciaires.
