Oct 14" cds, reverse with N.Y. transit and "Weisbaden, 11.11.84" receiving postmark; small tone spot affecting 1¢, otherwise Very Fine, this being The Earliest Usage of the 1884 4¢ Entire.

On F. Gregory's "Post Office in Paradise" website, the earliest documented use of the 4¢ entire (U3) is February 14, 1885. This usage predates the recorded example by four months.
