Hawaii, 1863, Numeral, 2¢ black on grayish, plate 3-E, type VI, position 4, margins to just shaving frameline at bottom, manuscript canceled (fingerprint offset tying) on folded letter sheet to Levi Haalelea at Honolulu, partial letter asking if going to Waimea for a trial, docketed "May 1861" on reverse; cover with some splitting along folds, F.-V.F.; with 1974 R.P.S.L. certificate.

Levi Haalelea was an important figure in Hawaiian history and was married to Princess Kekauonohi, the granddaughter of Kamehameha I.
