1912, $1 violet brown, D.L. watermark, perf. 12, vertical strip of three, in combination with 1914, 30¢ orange red + 50¢ violet (420, 421, latter with s.e. at top) on registered parcel front to the Federal Reserve in San Francisco, Cal., all tied by Washington, D.C. oval handstamps and red crayon, purple "Washington, D.C., Registered, Jul 15, 1915" cds at right, additional "From Comptroller of the Currency" and "In care U.S. Subtreasury" handstamps at left, F.-V.F., this being the Earliest Documented Usage of the 1912 $1 Franklin issue; with 2009 A.P.S. certificate.
