1870-71 National Bank Note Co. Issue, Grilled

Lot 3342

1870, 10¢ brown, H. grill, N.B.N.C. printing, o.g., very lightly hinged, nice centering, intense rich color, natural fiber inclusion (visible on reverse only), F.-V.F.; with 1976, 2006 P.F. & 1996, 2006 P.S.E. certificates, last Graded (F 70).
Scott No. 139    $7,500.

A LOVELY AND RARE MINT EXAMPLE OF THE 1870 10¢ H. GRILL BANK NOTE WITH ONLY ONE EXAMPLE GRADED HIGHER.

The numeric graded does not do this stamp justice, the last time this stamp was sold at auction, it was described as, "Extremely Fine Example of the 10-Cent 1870 National Grilled Issue with Original Gum and Unusually Choice Centering." (Siegel Sale #829, Lot 368)nnIt is interesting to note that only two original gum examples have been graded by the P.S.E., this stamp and one other (85 J).
