British Offices in the Danish West Indies, 1812 St. Croix to Ireland, folded letter rated "2/6" crossed out and rerated "3/1", with truly exceptional strike of the very rare "St. Croix, No. 27, 1812" fleuron date stamp, indistinct arrival postmark on reverse, Extremely Fine and choice.

The British invaded the Danish West Indies in December 1807. A British fleet captured St. Thomas on December 22nd and St. Croix on December 25th. Denmark-Norway did not resist and this occupation lasted until November 20, 1815.
