Malta, 1835 Malta Disinfected Transit Letter to Scotland, folded letter written at Thebes, Egypt and sent to Nunran, Scotland, carried privately to Malta where it spent several weeks in quarantine (cholera) at the lazaretto on Manoel Island, opened, fumigated and resealed with part of "Opened and Resealed, Lazzaretto of Malta" red wax seal on reverse (type LAZ-S4), curved framed "Malta" handstamp and boxed "1/2" rate, with additional manuscript 3/5 rating, F.-V.F.Estimate $200 - 300.
