Australian States: Queensland, 1887, 1d vermilion red, tied by "London, No 6, 09" cds canceled upon arrival in Boston, England, on soldier's letter endorsed "From J.E.Young, S.G.T. HMS Swinger, Brisbane, Australia" at top and countersigned by commanding officer "Lt. T.A. Hodge", reverse with "Boston, No 17, 90" receiving cds, Very Fine, a very scarce unexcised postage usage on soldier's letter from Australia.
SG Nos. 179    Estimate $500 - 750.

Gerland Ellot states this is one of only three of the fifteen recorded covers where the stamp has not been excised and replaced, and is the only one from Queensland where the stamp was not excised and replaced.
