1869, 3¢ ultramarine, four singles on overpaid 1870 folded cover (missing part of top & left flap) from New York to Paris, tied by geometric cancels with red "New York Mar. 22" cds alongside, three France 40c Orange Empire Laure tied by blue French entry marking Etats-Unis Cherbourg 2 Avril 70 with additional strike at right, cover with small defect at top left, Very Fine; with 2013 Calves & Jacquart certificate.

Carried by HAPAG Line steamer "Cimria" departing New York City on Mar. 22 to Plymouth, arriving April 1 and then onward to Cherbourg arriving on the 3rd of April. The French adhesives paid the double 60 centimes inland rate with the 10¢ United States rate overpaid by 2¢.
